The Thriller Buries Brgy. Ginebra
Posted by Renan on 2007-11-012007 PBA Most Valuable Player Willie Miller, who also won the award in 2002, tied his career-high he set earlier this conference with 35 points as the Alaska Aces scored the last 14 points in the game to win in overtime 103-92 in the 2007-2008 Smart PBA Philippine Cup.
Mike Cortez hit a triple with only 5.6 seconds on the clock to force overtime. Helterbrand missed a jumper in the ensuing play as the score remained tied at 89-all.
Sunday Salvacion scored a triple of his own to open the scoring in overtime but that would be the last points of the game for the Kings as Ariel Capus, who was picked by Alaska via free agency just a couple of days ago, put the cuffs on a red-hot Helterbrand in overtime.
With the loss, the defending champions now sit at the cellar with a 1-3 record. The Kings played their fourth straight game without key players Mark Caguioa nand Eric Menk, both men still recuperating from separate injuries.

Helterbrand led the Kings with 18. Ronald Tubid, Billy Mamaril and Sunday Salvacion each added 13, while Mark Macapagal had 10 for the defending champions.
